Managing the WCPR Process
To help ensure an effective WCPR process, with good attendance and participation, consider the following tips:
- Host virtual meetings or hybrid in-person and virtual meetings.
- Be flexible and adaptable.
- Make forms easy to complete and submit.
- Implement a digital tool to collect and store referrals and report on outcomes.
- Make follow-up consistent and efficient to ensure action.
- Communicate information about outcomes to motivate continued participation.
- Keep discussions solution-focused.
- Keep meetings on track and ensure they end on time.
Hub and Spoke Model
In large geographic jurisdictions, consider using virtual meeting technology to increase participation. The “hub and spoke” model consists of a centralized WCPR meeting (the hub) that serves smaller remote communities (the spokes). The smaller communities can call into the WCPR for consultation and information when needed, and have the option of referring patients for discussion at the rounds.
