Promoting the Value of WCPR
This fourth practice change is about engaging partners and actively promoting the value of WCPR to clinicians and other stakeholders involved in your palliative care program. WCPR is an opportunity to use shared decision-making to improve patient-centred care. Effective rounds improve patient care outcomes, increase provider satisfaction and result in more efficient and effective care. It’s important to remind stakeholders of their value in the process and the benefits they receive from actively participating in and supporting WCPR.
Successfully implementing WCPR requires engaging with a wide range of health care providers as potential members. This means communicating the value and benefits of WCPR to these important stakeholders. The key to engaging health care providers is to help them see the value of WCPR—how it will improve quality palliative care for patients by supporting effective communication and shared decision-making.
